Guatemala retains a reputation for producing high-quality beans with complex flavor profiles and is the world’s leading exporter of cardamom.
As a general rule, the higher the altitude, the harder it is for a plant to thrive. While this seems like a bad thing, it’s actually beneficial for the plants that survive. They produce high-altitude coffee beans that are more dense and hard, packed with the sugars and flavors sought after by coffee buyers (and drinkers) around the world.
Cardamom thrives in relatively cool, humid air at high altitudes, and it turns out Guatemala’s cloud forests are the perfect environment for it.
Guatemala produces around 30,000 metric tons of cardamom per year —well over half the global supply—
Coffee
Our coffee beans are grown in a farm at a height of 1,320 meters or 4,330 feet above sea level, which is located at the center of a major coffee-growing area.
Cardamom
Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance.
Green cardamom is one of the most expensive spices by weight but little is needed to impart the flavor.
